About the Role:

The OHSE & Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for promoting a positive health, safety, and environmental culture across the organization, ensuring full compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. In addition, the role carries responsibility for performing a broad range of technical maintenance duties, including the installation, modification, maintenance, fault-finding, and repair of production and facility equipment, ensuring all assets operate reliably and meet the standards required for the business to achieve its goals and objectives.

Role Responsibilities:

OHSE Responsibilities & Duties:

• Keep records of incidents and accidents and produce statistics for management.

• Lead the Investigation Reporting Team and assist in finding the root cause and action to prevent accidents occurring in the future.

• Co-ordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy.

• Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.

• Make changes to working practices that are safe and comply with HSE legislation.

• Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant health, safety and environmental hazards or impacts.

• Perform impact & risk assessments to identify, assess and reduce the organization’s environmental risks and financial costs.

• Perform regular site inspections and audits to check policies and procedures are being properly followed.

• Implement standard reporting of health, safety and environmental performance to senior management.

• Maintain, monitor and test organizations emergency systems.

• Keep records of inspections findings and produce reports that suggest improvement.

• Develop and implement leading indicators as KPI’s.

• Write health, safety and environmental reports, assuming the lead responsibility within the organization.

• Maintain the organization’s health, safety and environmental management systems to ensure continuing compliance with OSHA and ISO standards.

• Develop internal policy and action plans to ensure continuous developmental improvement.

• Conduct safety induction training with all new employees.

• Thoroughly investigate near misses, unsafe conditions, incidents, and accidents.

• Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health, safety and environmental issues and risks.

• Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of the organization, of the impact of emerging health, safety and environmental issues, whether legislative or best practice, on corporate, ethical and social responsibility.

Maintenance Responsibilities & Duties:

• Always perform work in a safe manner and in accordance with all safety procedures, work instructions and training programs.

• Ensure by ongoing review that all plant areas and equipment is safe for operation or is made safe by following appropriate Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.

• Responsible for maintenance of the plant and equipment for efficient, ongoing production operations.

• Liaise with production operations to ensure that maintenance requirements are met and that equipment breakdowns are dealt with on a priority basis.

• Perform tasks including, but not limited to, the maintenance of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including the troubleshooting and repair of process and production equipment.

• Provide emergency or unscheduled repairs to production equipment during production operations.

• Carry out routine planned preventative maintenance, calibration maintenance and equipment cleaning tasks, in accordance with company procedures and equipment maintenance manuals.

• Report on the operational status of all equipment daily to supervisor.

• Detect and report faulty or abnormal equipment operation to supervisor.

• Liaise with external contractors and service providers for contracted out maintenance and project work.

• Prioritizes and assigns work orders as needed to support production and the facility.

• Pull work order reports to review open work orders to establish work priorities.

• Plan and coordinate maintenance work with production as needed for equipment availability.

What you'll need:

• Associate’s degree in science/engineering or equivalent with additional professional qualifications in HSE and Fire & Safety Management Systems preferred.

• Three years of OHSE experience in a manufacturing environment and demonstrated skills in maintenance with three of education and/or maintenance experience.

• Above average computer skills and proficiency, particularly with the Microsoft Office Suite.

• Knowledge of basic accounting, human resources, data and administrative principles, management practices and procedures.

• Strong communication, teamwork, adaptability and collaboration skills.

• Detail oriented, high level of accuracy, exercise sound judgment, problem analysis and problem solving.

• Ability to take initiative, assume responsibility, plan, organize, and execute with excellence.

• Proven history of accomplishment in the servicing of internal and external customers.
