Job Overview

On behalf of a successful consulting company in pharmaceutical development, Haeger & Carlsson Executive Search is recruiting a CEO.

As CEO you will lead a senior, science-driven regulatory consulting firm. As CEO, you will set strategic direction, scale operations across pharma, medical devices and IVDs, strengthen international growth, and ensure top-tier quality and compliance. You will manage P&L, develop leaders, and represent the company to clients, partners and regulators, delivering on financial targets while accelerating the company’s global footprint.

The company is a Swedish regulatory consulting firm helping customers navigate in a complex and evolving regulatory landscape. The company has evolved into a robust, senior led consultancy offering tailored, science based regulatory strategy and operational support across pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and IVDs.

The combined team of 20+ experienced professionals, delivers global, fit-for-purpose strategies and submissions (FDA and EU), with clients based in the Nordics operating primarily in the US and EU and increasing interest in other major markets.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Business Development

  • Develop and execute strategy across business development, operations, finance, HR, and marketing.
  • Grow the client base and geographic footprint beyond the Nordics; strengthen key accounts and partnerships.
  • Evaluate and launch new offerings aligned with client needs across pharma, devices, and IVDs.

Commercial & Client Engagement

  • Build a high-quality pipeline, increase win rates, and drive account growth.
  • Champion the company´s scientific credibility through thought leadership and external representation.

Operations & Delivery

  • Oversee efficient resource utilisation, operational workflows, and delivery excellence.
  • Optimise processes for productivity and scalability across the company.
  • Drive digital transformation and explore AI applications in regulatory consulting.

People & Culture

  • Attract, develop, and retain top talent; build a high-performing, senior expert team.
  • Define and deliver a leadership development and succession strategy.
  • Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Position the company as the most attractive employer in the Swedish regulatory market.

Financial Stewardship

  • Own P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting.
  • Deliver the stated growth and profitability targets for the company.

External Representation

  • Represent the company with clients, partners and authorities.

Strategic Priorities

  • Market Leadership: Ensure that the company maintains a leading position in its core areas through continuous development of services, methods, and thought leadership.
  • International Growth: Expand outside Sweden via strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and increased revenue from international customers.
  • Portfolio Expansion: Identify and implement adjacent or complementary business areas aligned with the company´s profile.

Qualifications

Education

  • Academic degree in a Life Sciences–related field required; PhD preferred (PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent).

Experience

  • 10+ years in pharmaceutical R&D, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in consulting is advantageous.
  • Experience from a regulatory agency and/or as a regulatory expert in drug development is advantageous.
