Apprentice – Business Operations Apprentice - Level 3 Apprenticeship 

Location: Birmingham B25PP – Office based 
Working Hours: 37.5 per week (full-time) between 8.30am-6pm, working hours may vary due to operational needs but standard hours are 9am-5.30pm 
Contract Type: 15-month fixed term contract 

Role: Apprentice - Operations 
Salary: £7.55 to £12.21 per hour (dependent on age and experience) 
Start Date: ASAP 

 

Join Our Growing Business Operations Team! 

We’re a fast-growing, full-service commercial law firm with a subscription model supporting ambitious SMEs. With over 150 people and continued growth, our Business Operations team plays a crucial role in keeping the firm running smoothly day to day. 

We’re now looking for an Operations & Business Administration Apprentice to join our Birmingham office on a 15-month apprenticeship. This role is hands-on, varied, fast-paced, and people-focused — ideal for someone who enjoys being busy, getting stuck in, and supporting others 

Purpose of the Role:

This is a practical operations and administration role, not a desk-only position. 

You’ll support the smooth running of our office and wider firm by providing day-to-day operational, administrative, and front-of-house support. The role involves juggling multiple tasks, responding to changing priorities, and being flexible to support office needs. 

You’ll work closely with the Operations team and legal teams, helping keep the office organised, compliant, welcoming, and running efficiently. 

 

Department: Operations department 
Reporting To: Senior Operations Executive 

Core Responsibilities: 

This role includes a wide variety of operational and administrative tasks, including: 

Office Operations & Admin 

  • Supporting solicitors and business teams with day-to-day administrative tasks 

  • Formatting legal documents and preparing materials accurately and to deadlines 

  • Maintaining records, filing systems and document archives 

  • Supporting weekly office and operational audits 

  • Assisting with health & safety checks and compliance tasks 

Front-of-House & Facilities Support

  • Greeting visitors, clients and suppliers in a professional and friendly manner 

  • Booking and setting up meeting rooms, including AV, refreshments and materials 

  • Handling incoming and outgoing post, couriers and deliveries – this is a crucial part of the role and our firm. You will be handling large volumes of sensitive legal documentation 

  • Managing office supplies, including going out into town to collect supplies or drop off items at delivery points when needed 

Events, People & Team Support 

  • Supporting firm-wide and team events whether it be viewing venues, making bookings or pitching in with ideas 

  • Responding to internal requests and queries 

  • Answering phones and dealing with supplier or client enquiries 

  • Being a visible, helpful presence in the office 

  • This is a busy role with changing priorities, so you’ll need to stay calm under pressure, manage your time well, and be comfortable switching between tasks. 

What we are looking for 

  • Be eager to learn with a positive attitude  

  • Communicate well, both verbally and in writing  

  • Someone who enjoys a varied working day 

  • Be fluent in English and comfortable using IT and MS Office packages 

  • Be organised and have good attention to detail  

  • Work well in a team and would enjoy a collaborative office environment  

Entry Requirements 

  • Have at least five GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including English and maths  

  • Have an interest in business operations or office administration (experience is a bonus but not essential) 

  • Must have the right to work in the UK
