Academic Support Coach

The Role
As an Academic Support Coach, you will work directly with Graduation Candidates (GCs) to provide academic guidance, engagement support, and encouragement to help them stay on track toward graduation. This role partners closely with academy leadership and instructional staff to support students who may need additional attention, organization, or motivation in their coursework.
This is a grant-funded position expected to run through August 31, 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze student performance data and track improvement strategies
- Prepare and maintain documentation required for plan submissions
Assessment & Data Management
- Monitor academic performance and assessment completion among GCs
Student Support & Engagement
- Build positive relationships with assigned Graduation Candidates (GCs)
- Provide one-on-one support to help students stay engaged in their coursework
- Conduct outreach to students through phone calls, messages, and in-person check-ins
- Encourage consistent attendance and course completion
Academic Monitoring
- Track student progress and identify students who may need additional support
- Use student data to monitor engagement and academic progress
- Work with Content Coaches and academy staff to support student success
Student Intervention Support
- Assist students who may be struggling academically or disengaging from their coursework
- Help remove barriers to learning by connecting students with available resources
- Support academy leadership in addressing student needs on a case-by-case basis
College & Career Readiness
- Support preparation for post-secondary pathways
- Provide guidance in college and career readiness initiatives
Professional Development & Staff Support
- Contribute to staff learning aligned to GC success
- Perform other responsibilities as needed to support the academy’s mission
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Support teacher, staff, and family engagement
- Maintain effective communication across all levels of the academy
- Assist in school-wide initiatives and improvement collaboration
What We’re Looking For
Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
Experience: 1+ years working with students in education, youth programs, or student support environments preferred
Skills: Experience with academic coaching, intervention strategies, and student success planning
Passion: A genuine commitment to supporting students who have disengaged from traditional schooling and a drive to help them succeed.
Technology: Proficiency in Google Workspace, LMS, SIS, and mobile technology
