Job Overview

The Candidate Engineer - Dams and Hydropower will provide technical support in feasibility studies, design and inspections across dam engineering disciplines, including dam structures, foundations, construction materials, spillway, and hydraulic and flood hydrological analyses. The role involves working within multidisciplinary teams and contributing to local and international projects from feasibility studies through detailed design, construction support and contract administration.

Key responsibilities (under supervision of an experienced engineer):

  • Conduct engineering designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Utilise design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, etc).
  • Builds analytic and design skills.
  • Participate in quality assurance during dam construction projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of project specifications, bill of quantities and tender documentation.
  • Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analysis of catchment runoff and watercourses.
  • Perform hydraulic modelling and design of spillway and other hydraulic structures.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Here's what we are looking for:

  • 0-3 years' experience post-graduation.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exposure with design software will be advantageous (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, etc).
  • Prior exposure to dam engineering will be advantageous.
