Job Overview

Scope of Duties

As an Electrical Design Engineer – Low Voltage, you will be responsible for the design, documentation, and coordination of low voltage electrical systems in various projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. You will collaborate with multi-discipline teams to deliver complete and constructible electrical design packages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of low voltage electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, earthing/grounding, fire alarm, security, communications and data cabling systems.

  • Prepare electrical design calculations such as load calculations, voltage drop, short-circuit, panel schedules and cable sizing for low voltage distribution.

  • Create and review electrical drawings: single line diagrams (SLDs), layout plans, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, riser diagrams and equipment layouts.

  • Ensure all design deliverables meet international standards (e.g., IEC/NFPA/NEC/BICSI/TIA) and local electrical codes, and support safe, efficient installations.

  • Coordinate with architects, mechanical and structural engineers, and other disciplines to integrate electrical systems into overall project designs.

  • Review technical specifications and prepare documentation for procurement of electrical equipment, materials and components.

  • Support construction and commissioning phases by answering RFIs, issuing revisions, and providing on-site technical clarification.

  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to feasibility studies, technical reports, and client presentations.
