We are currently recruiting for a Purchaser to join our HeavyAero team in either Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta:

Position summary  

Reporting to the Manager, Supply Chain and Logistics, this position is responsible for the development and ongoing oversight of processes designed to support all aspects of purchasing. This includes cost-effective purchasing of aircraft materials, components & equipment based on the maintenance planning activities.

This is attained using continuous improvement of related processes, while ensuring excellent vendor and customer relations.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, issue, and track purchase orders to support maintenance operations
  • Source required parts and provide informed vendor recommendations
  • Conduct vendor negotiations to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality and meeting delivery timelines
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of parts availability across current and prospective vendors
  • Qualify and approve vendors to improve product quality and reduce lead times
  • Order parts in alignment with the Part Requisition process and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) priorities
  • Ensure part costs are accurately allocated to the correct job and billed appropriately
  • Monitor delivery timelines to ensure parts arrive on schedule and meet all quality and life‑limit requirements
  • Communicate order and shipment status to internal stakeholders as needed
  • Manage certification and traceability documentation in accordance with strict procedures
  • Retain customs and shipping documentation as required by applicable regulations
  • Participate in the AOG on‑call or shift rotation to support after‑hours critical requirements
  • Provide proactive updates and maintain regular communication with the DOM/PRM
  • Prepare a Monthly Activity Report detailing purchasing activity and associated costs
  • Continuously evaluate and improve purchasing processes, identifying cost‑reduction opportunities
  • Act as a Receiving Authority (RA) to inspect incoming aeronautical products per MPM requirements
  • Track receipt and distribution of materials and inventory; follow up on discrepancies
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into maintenance and procurement software
  • Support physical inventory counts and verify quantities against inventory records
  • Coordinate RMAs/returns with vendors and customers as required
  • Handle dangerous goods in compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Ensure Safety Data Sheets are provided for all hazardous substances
  • Provide labels for decanted products and ensure proper handling
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area
  • Develop policies and procedures within areas of expertise
  • Support the Controlled Goods Program as required
  • Operate company vehicles for parts pickups and deliveries
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management
  • Actively participate in the HeavyAero Safety Management System and Quality Assurance programs
  • Uphold all company policies, procedures, and performance expectations

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in aviation purchasing
  • Experience with a computerized inventory system
  • Knowledge of Maintenance software and QuickBooks is considered an asset
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Professional and positive attitude
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with other individuals throughout the organization
  • Possess strong knowledge of aircraft parts

Additional Requirements: 

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a Restricted Airside Identification Card (RAIC) & driver’s license
  • Must be willing to work evenings or weekends as required.
  • Must be willing to travel as per work requirements

Working Conditions

  • Work may involve minimal exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust & fumes & minimal physical risks such as walking around mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards in aircraft hangars
  • Must be able to meet the physical tasks of the job (e.g. standing, sitting in front of a computer, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting)
  • Must be able to see, hear and properly communicate with others
