Telecom Financial Reporting Manager
Job Overview
This is a highly hands-on, data-focused role ideal for someone with strong technical skills and a curiosity for uncovering the “why” behind financial and operational trends. You will work directly with large datasets from billing and finance systems, using SQL and Excel to extract, transform, and communicate insights that support business decisions.
Top Priorities for This Role
1. SQL & Data Mining (Mandatory Core Skill)
• Write and maintain complex SQL queries to extract and analyze data across financial and operational systems.
• Convert vendor reports or legacy files into structured datasets using SQL.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data used in reporting and analysis.
• Work with tools like RiverRock and similar platforms for billing and financial data extraction.
2. Excel-Based Financial Analytics
• Build and maintain advanced Excel models to support forecasting, budgeting, and revenue analysis.
• Use Power Query, PivotTables, and advanced formulas to automate reporting and streamline analytics.
• Develop tools that allow stakeholders to understand trends and anomalies without requiring raw data access.
3. Operational Insight from Data
• Analyze trends in billing, usage, credits, and service activity to understand business performance.
• Support revenue assurance through data validation of billing events and customer credits.
• Participate in initiatives like license management, feature pricing models, and cost mapping to align financial reporting with operational execution.
Additional Responsibilities
• Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and dashboards.
• Perform in-depth variance analysis and explain key business drivers.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams including IT, Revenue Assurance, and Finance Ops.
• Continuously improve reporting workflows through automation and process improvements.
• Take ownership of ad hoc projects—developing reporting and analysis from scratch when needed.
