This is a foundational role in which you'll become the driving force behind Akaysha’s Battery Energy Storage projects, in Germany. You’ll play a key part in shaping our presence as you support the rollout of our market strategy in this region by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, lead commercial negotiations for key project agreements, and help to secure revenue for upcoming projects. In collaboration with centralised teams of technical expertise your efforts will be essential in establishing a strong and sustainable project pipeline in Germany, for Akaysha.

You’ll be involved in every stage of the commercial process - from scouting new opportunities and shaping project terms, to supporting all commercial activities that ensure projects are delivered efficiently, on budget, and at the highest standard. Your drive and experience will help set the benchmark for Akaysha’s reputation in Germany and fuel our growth across the region.

Working closely with our development partner, and coordinating regularly with our teams in Europe, Australia, the US, and Japan; you’ll merge knowledge of the German market with global best practices to ensure Akaysha’s commercial goals remain on track, translating our vision into real results. 

As one of our first local hires, you’ll be instrumental in building our business and expanding our impact on the energy transition through innovative large-scale battery storage projects.  

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Market Strategy & Analysis: Drive the development and execution of market strategies for utility-scale BESS projects in Germany by analyzing market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to identify new opportunities and risks. 
  • Contracted Revenue & Offtake Leadership: Lead the origination and negotiation of offtake agreements, support contract structuring, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment with revenue objectives and commercial strategy. 
  • Commercial Negotiations & Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive engagement with potential customers and partners, conduct commercial negotiations for key project agreements, and secure favorable outcomes for Akaysha Energy. 
  • Leadership & Team Collaboration: Build and guide multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing to support project delivery and business growth; support recruitment and professional development initiatives to strengthen team capability. 
  • Stakeholder & Supplier Relationship Management: Manage relationships with suppliers, regulatory authorities, and key stakeholders to facilitate project approvals, contract execution, and operational success; capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement in commercial practices. 

What you’ll bring: 

Energy Market Analysis 

  • Demonstrated understanding of German energy market dynamics, including evolving regulations and funding programs for BESS. 
  • Proven ability to identify and assess market opportunities and risks relevant to large-scale battery storage projects. 

Financial Model Inputs 

  • Ability to provide commercial input on key project agreements as value drivers for financial models. 
  • Experience supporting investment decisions through analysis of how contract terms impact project economics. 

Contract Structuring & Negotiation 

  • Track record of negotiating favorable commercial terms for offtake and procurement agreements. 
  • Skilled in structuring contracts that align with business objectives and risk profiles. 

Procurement & Supply Chain Management 

  • Experience managing procurement for technical equipment, including long lead battery components. 
  • Ability to implement supplier engagement and risk mitigation strategies. 

Project Agreement Risk Analysis 

  • Proficient in conducting risk assessments and identifying gaps across interconnected project agreements. 
  • Ability to ensure commercial and operational alignment through thorough agreement analysis. 

CRM & RFP Response Systems 

  • Experience using CRM and RFP tools to track and manage offtake opportunities. 
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate stakeholder interactions and proposal submissions. 

Data Interpretation & Reporting Tools 

  • Proficient in Excel, Power BI, or similar tools to visualize and report market and commercial data. 
  • Ability to communicate insights and deal structures to executive stakeholders. 

Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge 

  • Strong familiarity with German regulatory frameworks affecting BESS projects. 
  • Demonstrated experience ensuring compliance in commercial agreements and project execution.
