Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for management controlling activities related to local holding companies and service operations in Portugal, while also providing support on a limited controlling scope in Spain. The role also includes responsibility for the financial monitoring of development projects in Portugal.
This role is part of an international, matrix-based, and evolving environment that requires autonomy, rigor, and the ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders.
The main objective of the position is to ensure continuity of controlling activities within the local scope, with a rapid onboarding period and a high degree of independence.
Your responsibilities
1. Management controlling for holding companies and service activities
- Oversee the financial monitoring of three local operating holding companies, as well as the services provided by these entities.
- Produce and analyse monthly reporting.
- Compare actual performance against budgets, forecasts, and historical results.
- Analyse variances, identify anomalies, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Contribute to the reliability of management data and the continuous improvement of KPIs, reporting processes, and management tools.
2. Development cost monitoring
- Monitor external expenditures related to development projects.
- Verify the correct analytical allocation of costs in the accounting system.
- Ensure spending is consistent with annual and multi-year budgets, as well as approved commitments.
- Produce regular reporting on development costs by project.
- Provide visibility into the economic performance of the projects being tracked.
3. Analysis and management support
- Prepare analyses that help “tell the story” behind the business performance.
- Identify significant variances and, where necessary, investigate down to the level of supporting documents or underlying transactions.
- Support operational teams in understanding financial results and business drivers.
- Coordinate with accounting, tax, and other internal group stakeholders as required.
4. Cross-functional coordination - You will work closely with:
- Project development teams based in Portugal.
- Local maintenance and operations teams.
- Finance asset controllers for the country.
- Corporate Finance, Tax, Shared Services (SSO) teams, and external partners involved in accounting and tax matters.
