Job Overview

Drives supplier onboarding /auditing and improving supplier performance including quality through Score Card. Works with sourcing team and procurement team ensuring raw materials quality supports supply chain strategies and objectives.   Assures that purchased parts and assemblies are tooled and processed to meet optimum quality, quantity, and cost requirements. Provides subject matter expertise in the use of quality/business tools, techniques, and methodologies. Utilizes advanced problem-solving tools to lead the implementation of continuous improvement activities that directly impact business metrics and performance. 

The ideal candidate for a Supplier Development and Quality Engineer would be able to do the following:

  1. Rapidly responds to and addresses supplier quality and performance issues that are impacting daily manufacturing operations utilizing a corrective action process. 

  1. Coordinates efforts required to develop, implement, and verify manufacturing control systems at suppliers. 

  1. Promotes design for manufacturability by working with Product Engineering and suppliers to review/modify tolerances/specifications on both new and existing designs. 

  1. Supports various elements of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), including review and sign-off of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). 

  1. Coordinates with purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing to prepare suppliers for new product launch so to minimize impact to the business.   

  1. Reviews key internal quality metrics (NCM, PPM, Warranty, etc.) and identifies, initiates, and completes corrective/preventive actions to achieve desired performance targets. 

  1. Leads on-site supplier process assessments and quality systems audits - recommends improvements and monitors implementation of changes.   

  1. Works with suppliers to develop continuous improvement initiatives to yield timely and effective solutions to complex manufacturing and/or quality problems.  

  1. Supports the standardization of quality/business methods, measures and tools. 

  1. Assists in the identification of value engineering and process improvements that result in cost reduction opportunities. 

  1. Leads key Supply Chain Management elements of the Quality Management System to maintain internal ISO compliance/registration.  

  1. Leads and mentors' employees in the use of quality tools, problem solving techniques, and methodologies to measure, monitor, report, and improve business performance.
