Job Overview

The Sr. Global Trade Compliance Specialist is a subject-matter expert responsible for ensuring adherence to global import/export regulations, maintaining compliant and efficient cross-border movement of goods, and overseeing multimodal freight cost performance. This role coordinates with customs brokers, freight forwarders, satellite warehouses, and global partners to ensure accurate documentation, operational compliance, hazmat regulatory adherence, and cost-effective logistics execution.

The ideal candidate for a Sr. Global Trade Compliance Specialist would be able to do the following:

  1. Lead global compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations, including CBP, OFAC, BIS, and country‑specific customs requirements. Oversee classification governance, ensuring accurate HTS/HS codes, ECCNs, COO, and customs valuation data across ERP/GTM systems. Manage hazardous materials compliance, ensuring proper labeling, packaging, documentation, and transportation per DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations. Manage restricted‑party screening programs and coordinate export licensing, exemptions, and required export documentation.
  2. Own the development, publication, and ongoing maintenance of the Global Trade Compliance Manual, SOPs, and corporate policies. Establish internal controls, work instructions, and compliance frameworks to support consistent global execution and risk mitigation.
  3. Develop and deliver global trade compliance training programs to build organizational awareness and competency. Support regional teams with expert direction and advice.
  4. Ensure accuracy and regulatory conformity of commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and all supporting trade documents. Direct pre‑ and post‑entry audits, resolve discrepancies, and maintain audit‑ready records and documentation controls.
  5. Analyze global freight spend across all transportation modes. Monitor and validate carrier invoices to ensure billing accuracy. Recommend cost saving measures.
  6. Oversee broker performance and issue escalation. Monitor service levels, flag non‑compliance, and support onboarding of new brokers and forwarders, including maintaining POA documentation.
  7. Serve as the primary liaison for global satellite warehouses and 3PL partners. Analyze monthly 3PL expenses, investigate discrepancies, and ensure alignment with expectations.
  8. Develop and maintain reporting and dashboards for compliance metrics, warehouse performance, freight spend, and key logistics KPIs to support strategic planning and operational visibility.
