Strata Control Officer

The Strata Control Officer is responsible for assisting the Chief Rock Engineer with strata control issues and the achievement of optimum Rock Engineering standards.

• Carry out appropriate rock engineering measurements.
• Input relevant data into plans and layouts.
• Monitor underground conditions and report to the Section Rock Mechanic.
• Assist Section Rock Mechanic with the monthly risk assessments on the stope plans.
• Monitor compliance to fall of ground critical controls for section safety and performance.
• Monitor compliance to support standards and to delineate areas with possible strata control problems.
• Liaise with Shift Supervisors to determine their individual needs according to their operational plans or problems encountered.
• Support the Section Rock Mechanic with rock engineering information to compile reports.
• Participate in the investigation of relevant rock engineering related incidents and accidents.
