Job Overview
The Drilling Operator must be able to operate and support the full range of drill rigs used at Mogalakwena. The operator must use the equipment effectively to ensure productivity and also minimize working costs through an appreciation of maintenance needs and good operating practice.
Drill Rig Operation through the ability to:
- Follow work instructions and orders.
- Ensure proper understanding of the required actions and orders
- Operation Drillings and equipment to instructions
- Effectively operate the Drilling to best practice standards and instructions
- Apply recognized work, operations and safety standards
- Ensure that tasks are completed to required quality standards
- Conduct daily inspections prior to usage
- Monitor that the Drilling is maintained according to set schedule
- Identify any unexpected problems that could require higher level technical support to Drill Rigs
- Compile an accurate shift report
- Report to Drill Foreman when task complete
- Accompany Drill Foreman when inspecting completed task
- Assisting on Drill moves
- Assisting on Cable Works
- Assisting moves – drills hole to hole when assistance is not available
- Housekeeping inside the drill cab and drilling pattern
Teamwork through the ability to:
- Participate in weekly safety meetings
- Identify actions that could prevent and improve safety and work performance
- Report any safety related grievances or issues to the safety rep or Drill Foreman
- Ensure that any allocated support works together as a team while completing tasks
- Promote safety awareness by reminding team members to follow work procedures and identifying unsafe work practices
- Communicate process problems to necessary people
- Support operational team members if and when they require help
- Help engineering employees to maintain equipment
- Ensure effective two-way communication with team members
- Effective Assistance to Drilling Operations
This role in the Mining Department at a B6 Level, reporting to the Pit Foreman
