De Beers Group has an opportunity within the Technical Services Department at the Gahcho Kué Mine open-pit mine based in the Northwest Territories for a highly motivated Survey Technician.  Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the incumbent will provide critical surveying support to mining operations, reclamation activities and surface maintenance groups in a fast paced environment. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day survey support for open pit mining and reclamation work
  • Perform field surveys related to pits, waste rock storage areas, tailing facilities, roads and reclaimed landforms.
  • Conduct pit and reclamation pickups as-builts and volume calculations.
  • Verifying the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations.
  • Assist with setups, calibration and operation of survey equipment (total stations, drone surveys and 3D scanners)
  • Accurately record and manage field data
  • Work closely with Mine Operations, Technical Services and Reclamation teams
  • Perform other mine site-based survey requests as required.
  • Adhere to site safety standards and actively contribute to a strong safety culture.

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the role resides within the Technical Services department.  This is a site- based position working 14 days in/14 days out rotation. This is a 10-month contract.
