Electrical Compliance Supervisor

Job Overview

As an Electrical Compliance Supervisor you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Participate in relevant safety audits, inspections, and observations and address issues to demonstrate safety leadership.
  • Act as a thought leader, technical expert and first point of reference for leading electrical installation and maintenance practices.
  • Provide support to Supervisors and artisans in the sections in executing the business electrical strategy for monthly shutdowns.
  • Witnessing, over-inspection of site acceptance testing and QA/QC for new installations/projects onsite.
  • Assist in developing standards, procedures, and processes in relevant functional or process areas.
  • Provide technical expertise to monitor the quality of maintenance systems.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the electrical maintenance team.
  • Ensure compliance with the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems, to deliver all Maintenance operations performance and KPI targets.
  • Assist with monitoring the quality of preventive maintenance programs to minimise downtime.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure the integration of electrical systems with overall mine operations.
  • Participate in witnessing and inspecting during factory acceptance testing of electrical equipment and minor electrical installations/projects to be delivered to the mine based on preset QA/QC, Quality control plan (QCP), site criteria and Kumba Guideline documents.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Keep abreast of changes in regulations and update procedures accordingly.
  • Coordinate with relevant teams to address and resolve electrical emergencies promptly.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to source electrical equipment, components and electrical test equipment in compliance with relevant Kumba standards and specifications.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Evaluate training and development opportunities for electrical personnel.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to ensure the team's skills are current.
  • Over-inspection and sign-off of competency assessments and authorisations for electricians, including MV/HV switching where applicable.
  • Generate reports on equipment condition, compliance with processes and deviations found during audits and inspections.
  • Provide input in continuous improvement projects and cost-reduction strategies
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in electrical systems and maintenance practices.
  • Implement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Build, manage, and maintain healthy relations with stakeholders to assist in achieving sectional goals.
  • Consult with stakeholders to provide relevant and specialised technical support and input for operations and projects.
  • Ensure that all relevant information is communicated to the supervisor accurately and on time.
  • Supervise a team of three High Voltage Technicians

This role is in the Engineering & Maintenance (ENG) discipline at a Band 7 level (C5 Grade) reporting to the Discipline Electrical Engineer.
