Sr. Backend Engineer (Node.js/Python)

About You

You are a backend developer who enjoys building scalable services and working with modern technologies. You are comfortable working with Node.js and Python, and you have experience developing APIs, handling real-world integrations, and contributing to systems where performance and reliability matter.

You are proactive, detail-oriented, and take ownership of the solutions you deliver. You are also comfortable working in environments where AI is part of the development ecosystem, using it as a tool to improve how you build, troubleshoot, and document backend services.

You Bring to Applaudo the Following Competencies:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4+ years of experience in backend development.
• Strong experience with Node.js (NestJS or similar frameworks).
• Practical experience with Python (FastAPI or similar frameworks).
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Solid understanding of backend security, authentication, and SSL.
• Functional knowledge of cloud environments (Azure preferred).
• Experience debugging and resolving issues in non-production environments.
• Familiarity with testing practices, version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
• Strong sense of ownership and responsibility for delivered solutions.
• Experience working with data processing or integrations is a plus.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools is a plus.
• Advanced English proficiency is required, as you will work directly with US-based clients.

You Will Be Accountable for the Following Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js and Python.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs aligned with business requirements.
• Build and maintain business logic ensuring performance and reliability.
• Integrate backend services with internal and external systems.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in non-production environments.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure proper integration.
• Work with QA teams to support testing and defect resolution.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and team discussions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of backend practices and processes
