$80,000 - $100,000, DOE

JOB SUMMARY

As a Product Design Engineer in Fargo, ND, you may: develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Creo; lea the design and integration of castings, weldments, forgings, and structural brackets across tractor platforms; conduct rigorous design reviews and apply engineering tools such as DFMEA, DFM/DFA, boundary diagram interface analysis, tolerance stack-up, and 7-step problem solving; support prototype builds and field validation efforts, resolving design and integration issues during development and testing phases; ensure all designs meet safety, durability, and regulatory requirements while optimizing for cost and weight; collaborate with suppliers to confirm design feasibility, manufacturability, and material selection; maintain accurate design documentation, BOMs, and change management records within PLM systems; work closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Testing, Product Validation, and Supply Chain teams to deliver high-performance tractor systems, and work collaboratively with suppliers and other Applied partners.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Ag & Biosystems Engineering required
  • Proficient in Creo for 2D drawings and 3D design
  • 5+ years in mechanical design engineering, preferably in agricultural, automotive, or heavy equipment sectors
  • Strong understanding of casting, forging and weldment processes, GD&T, material selection, and structural design principles
  • Experience with DFMEA, DFM/DFA, tolerance stack-up, and structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Familiarity with PLM systems for documentation and change control
  • Knowledge of material selection and supplier collaboration for manufacturable solutions
  • Ability to integrate mechanical components into complex systems with cross-functional dependencies
