Night Drilling Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced Night Drilling Supervisor to join our Wells team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of drilling operations during night shifts. You will act as the Night Company Representative onsite, managing field operations and coordinating all drilling-related activities in line with Assala’s policies, standards, and well programs.

Responsabilities :
Planning, Design & Execution
- Review and understand well-specific drilling and completion programs.
- Supervise and coordinate night operations, ensuring adherence to plans.
- Prepare detailed Drillers Instructions and witness critical operations.
- Provide high-quality written and verbal reporting of well site activities.
- Ensure logistical readiness and availability of equipment and personnel.
- Maintain and distribute operational and logistical look-aheads.
Performance Improvement
- Contribute to After Action Reviews (AARs) and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify and challenge inefficiencies in current practices.
Personnel Development
- Mentor Engineers to support competency development.
HSSE
- Ensure compliance with Assala Gabon’s policies, Ethics, Life Saving Rules & Golden Rules to achieve “Goal Zero”.
- Drive implementation of the Think Process Safety 10 critical elements.
- Lead safety inductions, toolbox talks, and pre-job safety meetings.
- Report incidents promptly and support investigations and audits.
- Promote Behavioral Based Safety programs across all contractors.
- Maintain HSSE Critical Competency records.
Main Challenges
- Remote operations in rainforest environments.
- Managing concurrent operations and multiple service contracts.
- Night-time supervision and coordination of diverse entities.
Requirements
- Extended experience in the field, including past experience on land rigs, with a solid understanding of drilling and completion operations.
- A degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences, and a valid IWCF Supervisor Level certification.
- Proven ability to execute well programs, manage logistics, and maintain high standards of reporting and documentation.
- Strong commitment to HSSE principles, with experience leading safety initiatives and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
- Clear and concise communicator in English, both written and verbal. French language skills are a plus.
- Ability to mentor junior staff, work effectively with diverse teams, and foster a collaborative environment.
- Comfortable working night shifts in remote locations, with the ability to manage stress and resolve conflicts constructively.
