We are seeking an experienced Head of Marine to provide efficient, safe, compliant and cost-effective maritime services to Assala Gabon. Develop, implement and maintain long-term and short-term strategies for maritime logistics as well as marine business plan and budgets appropriate. As part of your responsibilities you will also shadow one of our marine pilots when required, as well be accountable for marine pilot full compliance with local authorities regulations ( certificate renewal, training, etc).

  • Offshore crude oil export operations from the terminal, including pilotage
  • Managed a direct Opex budget
  • Supply of all logistics needs by inland barges and fast boats
  • Management of the logistics supply bases
  • Oil Spill Response
  • Demurrage claims management   

Responsabilities

  • Ensure that all maritime activities are conducted in accordance with the requirements of the HSSE & SP framework, with particular reference to the Transport Manual, Maritime Safety. Act as an authorized person for marine safety (TA2 equivalent)
  • Develop and implement maritime policies, procedures and processes using specialist maritime skills, developed through in-depth exposure to specific maritime environments
  • Underpin the requirements of the HSSE & SP framework, ensuring that maritime activities are carried out safely and efficiently, while meeting international maritime requirements, national, group and business unit level
  • Manage the ship/shore interface for all export tanker operations in accordance with Assala standards, including training and supervision of marine pilots and operation of the Terminal. Act as a Port Facility Security Officer
  • Developing strategies to achieve maximum value from expenses while simultaneously managing marine risk at "ALARP"
  • Manage the deployment of a fleet of barges and fast boats
  • Maintain accurate data usage for all in-service marine logistics equipment
  • Analyze and review performance trends and KPIs in collaboration with stakeholders

Requirements

  • Master Mariner, with Class 1 certificate, approved for the carriage of oil, approved for the position by the Marine Competency Officer
  • Seasoned marine professional with a minimum of 10 years of experience in marine management, including at least 5 years of experience at a supervisory level in support of EP's marine logistics operations 
  • Accreditation for hazardous cargoes (oil)
  • Training supported by STASCO
  • Oil Spill Response Training (IMO II)
  • Port Facility Security Officer Certification
