Tax & Compliance Specialist
Job Overview
The position was mainly established for the purpose of supporting the Tax & Customs team activities and is focused on ensuring accurate processing, review, and documentation of tax data and returns. The position also involves providing support during tax audits and collaborating with other departments to ensure full compliance with all tax obligations.
Main Responsibilities
- Collect, process, and verify accounting and tax data required for the preparation of periodic and annual tax returns (CIT, VAT, withholding taxes).
- Reconcile tax data with ERP systems, ledgers, trial balances, and third-party sources (customs documents, agreements, purchase invoices) to substantiate the tax base.
- Prepare and perform technical review of VAT, payroll tax, CIT, and other returns, in line with the Income Tax Code, VAT Code, and Greek GAAP.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of tax data to be reported, securing compliance with applicable tax legislation.
- Reconcile tax records with the myDATA platform, identifying discrepancies and supporting the accurate representation of transactions.
- Provide support during tax audits by delivering documentation and explanations as required.
Administrative Support
- Provide administrative support in order to ensure effective and efficient office operations
- Organize and maintain financial records in a structured digital environment
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial files
Communication with Public Authorities
- Communicate via telephone, e-mail or natural presence with public Authorities, whenever it is considered necessary
- Establish professional relationship with external contacts in public authorities
General
- Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- Assist with special projects as required
- Support other team members as necessary
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Minimum 5 years related accounting & tax experience in a Financial Department
- Clear and effective oral and written communication skills in English language
- Good knowledge of myDATA platform
- Excellent understanding of Greek tax and accounting legislation, in particular the provisions of the Income Tax Code, the VAT Code, and Greek Accounting Standards (Greek GAAP).
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office required
- Excellent attention to detail
- Additional working knowledge of foreign languages, (e.g. Italian, German, French etc.) are to be considered as extra skills
- Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) will be considered an asset.
- Familiarity with SAP will be appreciated as a valuable extra skill.
