Job Overview

The BIM Engineer is a critical role within the BIM team, acting as a key driver of information excellence on a high profile nuclear project. This position holds full responsibility for structuring, managing, and safeguarding project information within a highly regulated environment, ensuring every document, model, and data flow is accurate, traceable, and fully compliant with nuclear industry standards.

By establishing and maintaining a robust Common Data Environment (CDE), developing high-value dashboards for real-time progress tracking, and enforcing best-practice information management procedures, the BIM Engineer ensures efficient project delivery and regulatory assurance. This role is not just about supporting the team—it is about owning the integrity of project information and enabling informed decision-making across the entire project lifecycle.

The BIM Engineer will play a pivotal role in shaping how information is controlled, communicated, and utilised, making them a key contributor to the successful delivery of one of the most advanced nuclear engineering programmes in the world. By combining engineering quality principles with advanced digital assurance techniques, the BIM Engineer safeguards the integrity, safety, and reliability of nuclear project data. The role ensures regulatory compliance, supports informed decision-making, and drives continual enhancement of digital quality performance across the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

Information Management & Governance

  • Develops and maintains advanced progress-tracking tools, including dashboards and detailed logs, to monitor milestones, deliverables, and compliance, providing leadership with transparent, data-driven insights that support timely decision-making in a safety-critical environment.
  • Streamlines BIM documentation and quality-assurance processes, ensuring data accuracy, traceability, and adherence to ISO 19650 principles across all digital deliverables.
  • Manages submissions, reviews, approvals, and revisions in accordance with nuclear-project requirements, maintaining data integrity and ensuring accurate record-keeping throughout the project lifecycle.

Continuous Improvement & Process Optimisation

  • Leads continuous-improvement initiatives by gathering feedback, diagnosing inefficiencies, and implementing enhanced information-management workflows, digital practices, and reporting processes.
  • Identifies opportunities to automate or simplify document control and information-exchange processes, improving productivity and compliance.

Stakeholder Coordination & Communication

  • Acts as a key liaison for information exchange, facilitating clear communication and collaboration between internal project teams, external consultants, and nuclear regulators.
  • Provides guidance and training to project teams on BIM standards, CDE usage, and information-management best practices to ensure consistent delivery quality.

Compliance, Quality & Audit Readiness

  • Strengthens compliance and audit readiness by leading internal reviews, quality-assurance checks, and structured audits of project documentation and data environments.
  • Ensures all digital records meet the highest integrity and traceability standards required by the nuclear sector, supporting both operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
