Space Environment & Charging Engineer/Expert

We are looking for a ​Space Environment & Charging Engineer/Expert​ on behalf of and in support to our client for their location in ​Fino Mornasco, Italy​. This position is also open for freelancers and candidates looking to work remotely from within the EU. 

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage). 

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to: 

• Analyze and predict spacecraft charging effects (external and internal) and assess ESD risks for GEO missions; 

• Perform external and internal charging analyses for spacecraft components and materials (e.g., antennas, solar arrays, dielectrics, harness zones); 

• Develop and implement ESD/EMC mitigation and protection strategies across subsystems; 

• Ensure compliance with space environment and EMC standards (e.g., ECSS, MIL); 

• Oversee grounding and bonding architectures to minimize charging risks; 

• Support the full development lifecycle, from early design through testing, qualification, and in-orbit operations; 

• Prepare and review technical documentation and verification plans for charging/ESD at all system levels; 

• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and contribute to institutional space programs.
