Are you someone who can take a deep dive into an insurer’s balance sheet and risk profile, uncover key developments, and explain them with clarity? Do you thrive in a dynamic, ambitious environment that’s poised for growth? If so, we want to hear from you!
What you need to know about us
We are Athora Netherlands, an insurance company with the well-known brands Zwitserleven and Reaal. We are mainly involved in pensions and life insurance in the Dutch market. We are part of a European group with offices in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany and Italy. We are a strong company with over one million customers and we want to grow into one of the most important players in the rapidly changing pension market in the coming years. That is why we are looking for people who are not afraid of change, who are getting things done, who have the ambition to achieve results and who therefore know how to get the best out of themselves and their team. Smarter together, we call it.
What are you going to do?
As a Capital and Balance Sheet Reporting Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in connecting past performance, future projections, and scenario analyses across all reporting regimes—IFRS, Economic, Solvency II, and Tax. Your insights will directly support strategic decision-making on solvency and capital generation.
About the Team
You’ll be part of the Actuarial Capital & Balance Sheet Reporting team at Athora Netherlands—a team of 14 professionals responsible for delivering integrated risk analyses and steering reports to internal and external stakeholders, including risk committees, the board, our shareholder (Athora), and balance sheet management.
Our responsibilities include ORSA stress testing, (EIOPA) Stress tests, reporting on the Risk Appetite Statement, and identifying drivers behind movements in Solvency II (including the economic framework) and IFRS 17/9. Our scope covers the broader Asset-Liability Management (ALM) domain—encompassing all risk types (insurance, market, counterparty, LACDT) and balance sheet elements (assets and liabilities).
We adopt both forward- and backward-looking approaches, consolidating figures from various sources and are completing the balance sheet and risk profile valuations for market risks, counterparty defaults, LACDT, and non-market-to-market assets such as mortgages. Additionally, we contribute to assumption setting, including the determination of economic assumptions.
Tasks and responsibilities
As Capital and Balance Sheet Reporting Specialist, you’ll be responsible for:
Owning and overseeing the production of key regulatory and governance reports, such as Solvency II and IFRS
Analysing results, identifying and explaining key drivers of movements, and reporting these in external reports (e.g. SFCR) and internal reports (e.g. ORSA and internal Solvency II & IFRS reports)
Representing actuarial topics in senior committees and interacting with shareholders, auditors, and supervisors
Sharing knowledge proactively within the team and across the division
Delivering risk reports accurately and on time
Identifying relevant developments and explaining their impact on the balance sheet and solvency position
Driving improvements in modelling, tooling, and ways of working, including automation and the use of modern technologies
