Job Responsibilities

  • Cleanroom Operations: Execute daily fabrication steps including thin-film deposition, photolithography, wet/dry etching, and metal lift-off to create novel optoelectronic devices.
  • Metrology & Characterization: Run standard metrology (e.g., profilometry, ellipsometry, microscopy) to characterize film thickness, stress, and etch rates, ensuring process stability.
  • Process Documentation: Document run cards, process parameters, and yield data to help the team rapidly iterate on device designs.
  • Tool Support: Assist in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and qualification of custom or shared cleanroom tooling.
  • Collaboration: Work seamlessly with the fabrication and broader engineering teams to hand off processed wafers for electrical and optical testing.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field.
  • 1-4 years of hands-on experience in a semiconductor, MEMS, or photonics cleanroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with standard microfabrication techniques: spin coating, mask alignment, sputtering/evaporation, and wet/dry etching.
  • High attention to detail and a disciplined approach to process documentation and quality control.
  • Experience working autonomously in a shared academic or foundry cleanroom facility is a strong plus.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Capable of lifting and moving objects that weigh up to 25 pounds.
