Aurora Dairies are currently seeking an Farm Manager for a dairy farm in Hawkesdale, located 30 minutes from Warrnambool in South West Victoria.

This farm is approximately 1,105 ha, with a milking platform of approximately 700 ha. The remaining area is used for heifer agistment. Pastures are a mix of perennials and annuals, with summer crops grown.

The farm is currently milking 1,400 cows through an 80-bale rotary shed, equipped with a Delpro herd management system, in-shed grain feeding, ACRs, and auto teat spray. The herd is 70% autumn-calving and 30% spring-calving. The farm also has a concrete feed pad facility for feeding during the winter periods

Accommodation is available in a four-bedroom family home and there could be opportunities for employment for your partner on one of our nearby farms, if required.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will:

• Ensure safe operations across the property through the implementation of our Safety Management System,
• Manage and direct staff to achieve positive outcomes,
• Exhibit sound and accurate judgement to ensure the highest standards of animal health and welfare,
• Report on farm plans and inventory,
• Paddock inspection estimating quality and availability of pastures,
• Implement stock rotations and contribute to plans for future feed budgets,
• Feed management to support achievement of budgeted production targets,
• Monitor and maintain water and fencing,
• Maintain accurate stock, treatment, and feeding records,
• Operate and maintain plant and equipment,
• Coordinate contractors for required fertiliser, hay/silage making activities,
• Implement sustainable farming practices,
• Adhere to company policies and safe work procedures.
