About the role
The AP/AR Manager oversees core accounting functions including customer billing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. This role ensures accuracy and efficiency through the design, implementation, and maintenance of departmental procedures, while fostering a positive, high-performance environment focused on continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is well-versed in revenue recognition, highly organized, and detail-oriented, with a strong ability to lead teams and optimize accounting operations in a dynamic business setting.
What you'll do
- Oversee customer billing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Manage revenue processes, including ecommerce data, accruals, and proper revenue recognition.
- Investigate and track customer deductions and rebates, ensuring alignment with contractual terms and escalating non-compliant items.
- Calculate and reconcile AR reserves and manage documentation for returned goods and customer credits.
- Approve AP batches and manage weekly supplier payments.
- Manage Expense reporting platform and Company credit card program.
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and internal reports for budgeting, cash flow, and financial analysis.
- Reconcile and file monthly sales and use tax returns; prepare annual 1099 filings.
- Collaborate with departments such as customer service, sales, logistics, and production to ensure accurate and timely financial operations.
- Support quarterly reviews and annual audits through preparation and maintenance of supporting documentation.
- Lead or contribute to special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, lookups).
- Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft NAV, Oracle, or SAP.
- Hybrid role: in-office presence required 2–3 days per week.
Education:· Associate’s degree in accounting required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to occasionally move about inside the office to access files, office equipment, and attend meetings.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times (e.g., laptops, files, or small office equipment).
- Visual acuity to read and analyze data on a computer screen and printed reports.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 10% of the time, including visits to manufacturing sites.
