Job Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Assistant Category Manager – Food to support the development, management, and growth of the company’s food category portfolio. The role will assist in category planning, supplier coordination, pricing, promotions, and overall performance analysis to ensure optimal sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Category Manager in developing category strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Monitor sales performance, inventory levels, market trends, and customer behavior to identify growth opportunities.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for product listings, negotiations, pricing updates, and promotional activities.
  • Support in planning and executing category promotions, campaigns, and merchandising initiatives.
  • Analyze product performance and recommend adjustments to assortment, pricing, and promotional tactics.
  • Prepare regular category reports, dashboards, and business reviews for management.
  • Work closely with procurement, marketing, supply chain, and store operations to ensure seamless execution of category plans.
  • Evaluate competitor activities, market changes, and emerging trends within the food category.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Management, or a related field.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in category management, merchandising, retail, or FMCG (preferably in food products).
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills; proficient in MS Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
