Job Summary
The Internship in BACB’s Front Office for Financial Institution and Corporates is designed for individuals seeking to build a foundational understanding of trade finance within the context of emerging markets.
This role provides an exceptional opportunity to participate in in-depth research, support relationship management, and gain practical experience in a dynamic banking environment. The Front Office Libya Desk Intern will work closely with seasoned professionals, contributing to the bank's trade finance operations while focusing on their personal learning and development in financial services.
Key Work Outputs and Accountabilities
Primary Accountabilities:
· Proceed with market research in relation to BACB target markets
· Contribute to ongoing projects and perform administrative tasks as needed.
· Collation of KYC documentation for existing and new clients, liaising both externally and internally to meet all requirements.
· Translation of documents if required.
· Develops an in-depth knowledge of BACB products and services. Analyses the needs of clients in order
to effectively recommend appropriate products or services.
Additional Responsibilities:
· Support Relationship Managers: Assist Relationship Managers in their daily activities, gaining insights into client relationship management, financial product structuring, and risk assessment.
· Learning Projects: Participate in learning projects that involve analysing trade finance transactions, with mentorship from experienced staff to understand complexities and solutions in emerging markets.
· Collaborative Learning: Participate in team meetings to enhance understanding of trade finance products, market trends, and strategic approaches to emerging markets.
· Feedback and Reflection: Engage in regular feedback sessions with mentors and peers to reflect on learning experiences, discuss career aspirations, and set personal development goals.
Required Qualifications and Experience
· A keen interest in Global Trade Finance, with openness to working within a niche small UK bank.
· Interest in Trade Finance: A genuine interest in specializing in trade finance and a curiosity about financial operations in emerging markets.
· A proactive and positive attitude grabbing opportunities to demonstrate learning and personal development.
· Strong organisational skills with sound attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively within a team.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with tight deadlines.
· Good Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and welcome experience of using other [ideally relevant] IT platforms and reporting toolsets, to help demonstrate technology knowledge and competence.
· No prior Banking experience required, but any evidence and experience of administration, customer service, process execution is beneficial.
