Legal Intern
Job Overview
Job Scope
We are seeking a motivated Legal Intern to support the Legal & Compliance team. This role is designed for a recently qualified lawyer or early-career legal professional seeking practical, hands-on experience within a fast-growing fintech environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Legal, and wider business teams, providing legal, regulatory, and operational support across the Company’s activities.
This role offers strong exposure to in-house legal work, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration, with structured guidance and on-the-job learning.
This role is based in Lagos, Nigeria and requires you to come into the office two times a week.
What you will be doing:
Support the Legal & Compliance team with the day-to-day running of legal operations, assisting with the drafting, review, formatting, filing, and organisation of contracts, NDAs, internal policies, memoranda, and other legal documents—learning how in-house legal teams actually work in practice.
Carry out legal and regulatory research across relevant areas of law and turn your findings into clear, practical summaries, briefing notes, trackers, and checklists that help the business stay compliant and move quickly.
Help monitor regulatory developments across securities, payments, and the wider fintech ecosystem by collating updates, maintaining regulatory trackers, and supporting internal compliance awareness.
Get hands-on exposure to corporate governance and company secretarial work by supporting Board and committee processes, including statutory registers, resolutions, approvals, meeting packs, and action logs.
Work closely with teams across the business (product, operations, finance, and compliance) to gather information, documents, and approvals needed for legal reviews, regulatory filings, audits, and compliance projects.
Assist in preparing internal reports, presentations, summaries, and updates for stakeholders, learning how complex legal and regulatory issues are communicated clearly to non-lawyers.
Provide general legal operations support to the Legal & Compliance team, including tracking tasks, following up on action items, updating dashboards and trackers, and helping keep legal workflows organised and running smoothly.
Take part in ad-hoc projects and learning opportunities, gaining exposure to fintech regulation, licensing, compliance operations, and cross-border legal work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
