Job Overview

Join Our Dynamic Team as a Head of Content! 🌟

Are you passionate about telecoms? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment? At Babble, we’re on a mission to be our customer’s most trusted advisor for cloud-based technologies. We’re looking for passionate and talented individuals to join our dynamic team. If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

What will you be doing?

Own and personally run Babble's content operating system - the core knowledge behind everything we publish, the AI-powered tools built on it, and everything that depends on them being right.

Our content is built on the They Ask, You Answer approach - sometimes called the Endless Customer method: answering the real, specific questions our customers and prospects are actually asking, clearly and honestly, rather than producing generic marketing copy. Done well, this is what earns Babble its reputation as a trusted adviser to the small and medium-sized businesses we work with, not just another technology vendor.

Content is produced through this operating system with the help of AI, but editorial judgement is what makes it good - and it matters most at the two ends of the process: shaping the brief and the standards the AI tools work from at the start, and personally checking, correcting, and approving what comes out at the end. We call this being the human in the loop, and it's the core of the role, not an occasional check.

There is currently one other person in the content function. This role works alongside them day to day and is the final quality check on everything that goes out under Babble's name.

Accountabilities and Deliverables:

  • Own our core body of knowledge - clear, honest answers to the real questions our customers and prospects ask about cost, problems, comparisons, and what good looks like - and keep it accurate and current.
  • Decide where to go deep and where to go light - prioritising the products and topics that matter most to our customers, rather than treating everything as equally important.
  • Direct our AI-powered content tools day to day - shaping the brief and standards they work from at the start, and personally checking and correcting what they produce before anything is published.
  • Make sure everything we publish is properly organised and easy to find - both for people searching our site and for AI tools like ChatGPT or Google's AI answers.
  • Make sure every campaign and every piece of content, whoever produces it, draws on the same accurate, approved information - so Babble never says two different things about the same product.
  • Reference pricing and product facts from Babble's single source of truth, rather than restating them independently in content.
  • Work day to day alongside the one other person currently in the content function, setting the standard both work to, while remaining personally hands-on rather than only directing.
  • Report on content performance in plain terms the CMO can act on.

Core Competencies:

  • Skilled at turning technical or scattered knowledge into a clear answer a customer would genuinely want to read.
  • Editorial judgement - able to prioritise, and to explain and defend that judgement to stakeholders.
  • Comfortable being the human in the loop - giving clear direction up front and catching what AI gets wrong at the end, every time, without exception.
  • Practical, organised thinker who can define and stick to a simple, consistent structure.
  • Comfortable being the person who sends something back if it doesn't meet the standard, regardless of who wrote it.
  • Discipline and attention to detail.
  • Owner-operator mindset - does the work personally as well as setting the bar for others' output.
  • Comfortable with data - reads it and adjusts the plan, not just reports the numbers.

Key Performance Indicators

  • How fully and clearly we answer the real questions our customers and prospects ask.
  • Whether Babble's content is being found and cited by AI search tools (like ChatGPT or Google's AI answers) when people look for answers.
  • Growth in people choosing to follow Babble's content directly, rather than us having to chase attention.
  • How often our own sales and account teams choose to share the content with customers themselves - a real test of whether it's trusted, not just produced.
