Role Overview
The Lead Commodity Buyer & Sourcing Strategist is responsible for end-to-end procurement and strategic sourcing activities for assigned commodities, including small parts (hardware, fasteners, machined details, consumables, and standard components) and outside services/farmout operations such as heat treat, special processing, inspection, and other subcontracted manufacturing services.
This role drives supplier performance, cost competitiveness, material availability, quality, compliance, and on-time delivery in support of aerospace and defense production programs. The position partners closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and Finance to ensure supply continuity while maintaining compliance with customer, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
What You’ll Do...
- Own procurement activities for assigned commodities, including RFQs, purchase order issuance, supplier negotiations, and contract administration.Create executive-level dashboards and reporting tools that support strategic sourcing and operational decision-making
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for small parts and outside processing/farmout suppliers
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure delivery, quality, responsiveness, and cost objectives are achieved
- Monitor supplier capacity and lead times to support production and program schedule
- Lead competitive bidding activities and supplier selection processes
- Track and manage supplier KPIs including on-time delivery, quality, cost, responsiveness, and corrective actions
- Work closely with Production Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Program teams to support operational priorities
You have...
- Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain operations, procurement systems, or manufacturing
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and supply chain operations; Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issues security clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Nice to have...
- Experience within aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries preferred
- Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and supply chain planning principles
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and procurement analytics tools
