Summary of the Position

Best Equipment is seeking a skilled technician to perform repair and maintenance on municipal and contractor environmental equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Estimated +50% travel will be required for work at customers’ sites to support the Best Equipment Fleet Support Program. Hours of this position would be 3:00 PM – 12:00AM  Monday – Friday.


Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnostics & Repairs: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel engine failures on various types of heavy equipment.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and safety inspections, ensuring all equipment meets regulatory standards.
  • Welding & Fabrication: Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed to repair buckets, blades, or structural components.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all repairs, parts used, and labor hours in our digital maintenance tracking system before the end of the shift.
  • Shop Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Adhere to all OSHA, EPA, and company safety regulations.


Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work independently and solve problems effectively
  • Experience with heavy equipment repair, welding, and fabrication preferred
  • Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and 12-volt electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics and electrical diagrams
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work


Physical Demands and Work Environment:

To be successful in this role, you may need to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb ladders or equipment. Vision and hearing must be sufficient to identify equipment issues and ensure safety. The position involves exposure to loud noise, odors, dust, heat, cold, and vibration. You may have to tolerate temperature fluctuations and work in various weather conditions.
