As a Technical Writer Co-op, you will gather information from the product management and development teams to create clear, concise reference and user guide documentation for network administrators and other users. This involves collaboration with the development teams, the Technical Writing team, as well as other members of the BlueCat family. You’ll need to be someone who can take charge, meet deadlines, and isn’t afraid to try new forms of media for the developed documentation.
Responsibilities
· Determine the needs of end users of technical documentation;
· Talk with Product Managers and Product Developers, and study early product builds;
· Work with UX designers and product developers to ensure that UI text (field labels, error messages, etc.) are meaningful and error-free;
· Get hands-on with the product to ensure accurate documentation;
· Develop customer-facing documentation for new products and features, including content, charts, illustrations, etc.;
· Integrate documentation into product builds;
· Review existing documentation, and recommend edits and reorganization;
· Standardize content across platforms and media;
· Gather usability feedback Collaborate with teams across the company including Customer Success, Marketing, and Learning and Development;
Skills and Experience
· Strong English speaking and writing skills
· Ability to work independently or as part of a team
· Working towards a university degree or college diploma in English, Business, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field
· Familiarity with DITA-OT, oXygen XML Author, and related tools and techniques would be an asset
· Familiarity CSS, HTML, Javadoc, Markdown, Sphinx, PostMan, and/or Python would be an asset
· Networking knowledge/experience would be an asset
