Contract Senior Accountant

Born Primitive is seeking a Contract Senior Accountant to join our team for an initial 4–6-month contract, with the potential to convert to a full-time role based on performance and business needs. This role will focus on hands-on support of the month-end close process and day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Focus will be assisting with month-end close processes, ensuring adherence to the month-end close calendar and deadlines
• Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned areas, including:
• • Cash and credit cards
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Prepaid expenses
  • Fixed assets,
  • Various accruals
  • Other assigned balance sheet accounts based on experience and business needs
• Identify month-end reconciling items, propose journal entries, and ensure timely resolution.
• Support accounts payable and expense management processes, as needed
• Maintain and reconcile accounts receivable activity, including:
• • AR subledger to general ledger reconciliations
  • Customer payment application and clearing accounts
  • Identification and cleanup of aged, unusual, or unsupported balances
• Support daily accounting operations including general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Partner cross-functionally to resolve AR-related issues as needed
• Serve as a technical accounting resource
• Escalate issues with clear recommendations and proposed accounting treatment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting or industry experience preferred)
• Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles
• Hands-on month-end close ownership is required
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite experience a plus)
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
• Retail, e-commerce, or inventory-based business experience a plus
• Ability to operate independently with minimal onboarding
