As a Project Engineer, Rivers and Dykes, you will join our engineering team to provide remote technical support for small-scale and less complex tenders, projects, and designs, as well as parts of medium to complex ones. Your role ensures that projects meet agreed requirements such as safety, quality, time, budget, legal regulations, and more.
You will have the opportunity for personal and professional growth by working on unique and complex projects in the Netherlands, including the design, construction, and maintenance of dykes and water barriers.
Example projects for rivers and dykes include the Markermeerdijken, Meanderende Maas, Dyke Reinforcement Zwolle-Olst, the creation of new islands near Amsterdam, and Markerwadden. Our work always considers environmental care.
Your Responsibilities as a Project Engineer, Rivers and Dykes are:
- Drafting Specifications and Procedures: Independently drafting specifications and procedures for the realization of tenders, projects, and designs within the set framework and customer and contract requirements to achieve an optimal project result.
- Designing and Developing Technical Solutions: Independently designing and developing (new) technical solutions that meet all requirements. Offering alternative solutions to the customer and minimizing risks.
- Feasibility and Safety Assurance: Convincing external customers/inspectors of the feasibility and safety of the proposed solution/method and the resulting specifications.
- Scope Determination and Supervision: Responsible for determining the scope of engineering work for mainly small projects and/or less complex technical tenders or parts of complex projects, including personnel, planning, and budgeting. Supervising and assessing the work of colleagues, subcontractors, and customers to ensure that tenders, projects, and designs are carried out in accordance with the requirements.
- Progress Reporting and Deviation Identification: Responsible for progress reporting regarding small projects and/or less complex technical tenders (or parts of complex projects) to internal and external customers. Timely identification of deviations in time, demand for engineering capacity, quality, or costs, compared to planning, requirements, and budget.
- Execution Support and Improvement: Assisting and advising in the execution of tenders and projects, sometimes on location. Providing logistical support. Participating in the continuous improvement of departmental processes and procedures, and evaluating the engineering process.
Your qualities:
You can make your mark as Project Engineer Rivers and Dykes if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- 5-10 years of relevant work experience at an infrastructure contractor, including experience with relevant working methods, techniques, and professional software and models.
- Good knowledge of CAD, QGIS, and Excel software required.
- Relevant experience with project management and good command of English (written and spoken). Proficiency in Dutch is an asset.
