As a Geotechnical Engineer you will be part of Hydronamic, the Boskalis in-house design and engineering department. The department has over 80 specialist engineers from a broad range of design disciplines and provides state of the art, tailor-made engineering solutions for large-scale hydraulic and civil engineering projects, part of the world-wide Boskalis portfolio.

We are looking for a talented and forward-thinking Geotechnical Engineer with a passion for digitalization and innovation to join our team. In this role, you will not only apply your geotechnical expertise but also lead the transformation of our digital workflows.

Boskalis values and actively supports our in house citizen developers, who can combine their expertise with (Python) programming knowledge, through a Python community of >250 colleagues, to build apps with immediate business value.

As the go-to person for your colleagues, you will bridge the gap between engineering needs and digital innovation. You will design, develop, use and maintain the business logic of our applications together with colleagues that have the same drive and persistence. Your work will help optimize processes, improve data handling, and empower both you and colleagues to make better, faster decisions – ultimately shaping the future of how we work. Examples of developments that we are currently working on:

  • Our internally developed numerical calculation kernel for settlements
  • A data driven approach on sheetpile installation predictions, directly implemented in the projects
  • Cooperating with our in-house AI department on applying generative AI in geotechnical engineering

Your responsibilities geotechnical engineer

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for digital solutions within the geotechnical engineering team.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, data management and analysis
  • Translate engineering needs into blueprints for new tools.
  • Develop, test, evaluate, and refine applications for optimal usability and performance.
  • Provide training and guidance to colleagues on new tools and digital systems.

Your qualities and experience
You can move ahead as a(n) geotechnical engineer if you have:

  • At least 3 – 5 years’ relevant work experience.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil engineering / Applied Earth Science (or similar) with specialization in Geotechnical engineering.
  • In-depth knowledge of Python.
  • A good command of written and spoken English; Dutch is a pre.
