Your Job:
As the Brooks EMEA Trade Compliance Specialist, you are responsible for day-to-day operations and activities related to EU import and export compliance. Your primary focus is to audit EU import entries to verify supplier and broker accuracy and compliance, identify and address data discrepancies and manage the entry recordkeeping. You help to facilitate the EU import and export trade while ensuring compliance with EU trade laws and regulations. You report compliance key performance indicators and import duty cost savings to the North America Trade Compliance team in order to monitor compliance and cost trends.

Your Job:
As the Brooks EMEA Trade Compliance Specialist, you are responsible for day-to-day operations and activities related to EU import and export compliance. Your primary focus is to audit EU import entries to verify supplier and broker accuracy and compliance, identify and address data discrepancies and manage the entry recordkeeping. You help to facilitate the EU import and export trade while ensuring compliance with EU trade laws and regulations. You report compliance key performance indicators and import duty cost savings to the North America Trade Compliance team in order to monitor compliance and cost trends.
Your Responsibilities:
- Manage Brooks Sports B.V. EU import entries which involves auditing entries for vendor and broker customs compliance, reporting discrepancies, addressing non-compliance with foreign vendors, identifying, and reporting savings and processing customs entry corrections as needed with the EU Customs broker.
- Manage, audit, and maintain recordkeeping of EU import and export documents in accordance with customs regulations and Brook’s requirements.
- Report and periodically send Customs/Trade compliance KPI reports to the global team.
- Execute customs proforma invoices for Distribution Orders (“DO”) deliveries between EU and UK warehouses and oversee the Customs filing process for the inter-warehouse product delivery.
- Prepare import and/or export shipping documentation in response to ad hoc requests from other departments.
- Process and execute duty refunds for imports from the bonded warehouse to the EU with the support of the EU customs broker, Local Customs and MOIT Vietnam.
- Administrative support for EU-VN Free Trade Agreement compliance program.
- Execute the pre-import audit process which involves auditing all inbound ocean shipments prior to arrival to the EU, recording and investigating data and documentation discrepancies, and if necessary, requesting factories to revise shipping documentation.
- Maintain the EU import and export compliance procedures manuals.
- Approve footwear factory invoice payments for all EU shipments, manage invoice discrepancies and apply debit/credit notes as needed.
- On a monthly basis, analyze customs data and report KPIs and cost savings related to EU-VN Free Trade Agreement entry audits and vendor compliance as part of team internal reporting.
- Collaborate and assist with Trade Compliance team to develop and execute process improvements and support strategic initiatives.
- Attend local seminars and trade conferences, participate in networking opportunities and review trade publications and Customs regulation updates to stay current with EU customs and other government agencies’ regulations, making recommendations to Brooks process to ensure compliance.
- Serve as a backup to the EU Trade Compliance Analyst and support the EU Trade Compliance work tasks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in international trade, business administration, or education as Industrie- or Speditionskaufmann + equivalent work experience in import and/or export industry.
- Fluency in German and English (absolute must), other European language skills are a great plus.
- 1+ years of work experience in logistics and/or trade compliance industry.
- Knowledge of EU + UK import, export, and/or foreign trade zone regulations.
- Customs Broker’s License or Certified Customs Specialist is a plus.
- A commitment to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
- Ability to work independently and make effective decisions.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- Ability to function in a team environment and make positive contribution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to adapt to process change and initiate process improvements.
- Proficient using the MS Office Suite, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills are a plus.
- Ability to anticipate how a decision can affect our stakeholders and our customs compliance.
- Demonstration of innovation and initiative – always looking at improve processes while also displaying a willingness to dive into the details and help wherever necessary, required.
- Ability to travel up to 5%.
