The Release Manager role in Capital.com is crucial for ensuring that software releases and IT changes are managed effectively, minimizing risk, and maximizing efficiency. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the release of software applications and updates, ensuring seamless deployment across various environments. The main goal is to provide a smooth release with little disturbance while streamlining the process required to bring software releases into production through strategic thinking with a detail-oriented approach and a strong command of technical tools and methodologies. The majority of your time will be spent on planning, tracking, release, deployment, communication, and risk management, to put it in a broad perspective.
Responsibilities:
- Release and deployment management, сordinate and plan all software releases and IT changes, ensuring the stability and reliability of different system components and application
- Manage the full lifecycle of change processes, from initiation to implementation and review. Assess the impact and risks associated with proposed changes, ensuring they meet compliance and business requirements
- Ensure stability and reliability of trading platforms and related systems by proactively identifying risks and mitigating them
- Develop and implement KPIs/metrics to measure the effectiveness of release and change management processes (deployment frequency, failure rate, etc.). Regularly review process performance to identify areas for improvement
- Work together with the development teams who are in charge of developing the automated tools/pipelines/integrations necessary for developing and deploying the software
- Constantly improving the release management process inside the company and offer software&tools that facilitates the release/change flows
- Expand integration and deployment using GitLab’s CI/CD pipelines and control checkpoints (compare branches/tags, initial repo/project setup and branching strategies, handling merge requests)
- Maintain an audit-ready release trail aligned with financial regulations and compliance standards
- Act as primary point of contact for all stakeholders involved in the release and change process, including development teams, operations, compliance officers, and business leaders. Ensure clear communication and understanding of project statuses, potential impacts, and post-release outcomes.
Requirements:
- At least 2-3 years in release and/or change management roles, preferably in a technology-driven services environment
- Understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Hands-on experience with Git repository management, including:
- Comparing branches, tags, and merge requests (MRs).
- Setting up initial project/repository configurations.
- Enforcing branching strategies (GitFlow, trunk-based, etc.).
- Strong project management skills and experience using project management tools
- Familiarity with release/change management tools (Jira, GitLab/GitHub, Jenkins)
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work under pressure
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders, capable of writing clear and comprehensive reports
- Technical background and programming stack, experience in scripting languages (Python/Bash) to automate workflows and routine tasks
- Understanding code management systems like GitLab for managing CI/CD pipelines, including their structure and integrations with other tools like Jira, Slack.
