About the Project
We are supporting a major consultancy on a large-scale Trade Surveillance Alert Review project. The team is responsible for clearing a backlog of alerts across multiple asset classes, ensuring compliance with the Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) and internal conduct policies.
We are now looking to onboard several experienced Trade Surveillance Analysts to join this fast-paced remediation programme.
Role Overview
As a Trade Surveillance Analyst, you will be responsible for reviewing, investigating, and dispositioning trade surveillance alerts generated across a range of trading activities. You will assess potential market abuse behaviours, escalate suspicious activity, and maintain high-quality documentation in line with regulatory expectations.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Review and investigate daily trade surveillance alerts across asset classes (equities, fixed income, FX, derivatives).
- Analyse trading patterns to identify potential insider dealing, market manipulation, wash trades, layering, spoofing, and other forms of market abuse.
- Conduct research, including news checks, historical behaviour analysis, and counterparty reviews.
- Write clear, concise, regulator-ready rationales for each alert.
- Escalate potential suspicious activity to the Investigations or Compliance Advisory teams.
- Work towards daily and weekly throughput targets with strong accuracy and quality control.
- Contribute to improvements in alert calibration, thresholds, and surveillance processes where appropriate.
- Collaborate with team leads and quality assurance reviewers to maintain consistency and high standards.
Requirements
Essential
- 2+ years’ experience in a Trade Surveillance, Market Abuse, or Market Monitoring role.
- Strong understanding of MAR and key market abuse typologies.
- Experience using one or more surveillance platforms such as:
- NICE Actimize
- SMARTS
- Scila
- Nasdaq
- ACA / OneMars
- Behavox
- Mantas
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret trading behaviour.
- Excellent written communication, with proven ability to produce high-quality alert rationales.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet throughput SLAs.
- UK-based (due to regulatory and project requirements).
Desirable
- Experience working on alert backlogs or remediation projects.
- Previous consultancy or contract project experience.
- Knowledge of fixed income or derivatives trading.
- Prior exposure to s166 or regulatory remediation work.
