Senior Cloud Engineer
FullTimeJob Overview
We’re a fast-paced SaaS company innovating at the intersection of AI and scalable cloud infrastructure. Our platform empowers thousands of users daily, and we’re scaling rapidly. As we grow, we are investing deeply into developer enablement, infrastructure automation, and self-healing systems to support both velocity and resilience.
At Trengo, we believe in a world where technology empowers the relationship between companies and their customers. That’s why our mission is to build an AI-powered customer engagement platform to replace repetitive work with meaningful conversations. How do we do that? Our software makes it easy for customer-facing teams to communicate with customers via multiple channels, all in one shared inbox. Email, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, live-chat, you name it. With a Series A investment of $36M led by Insight Partners and Peak Capital and becoming one of the four official WhatsApp Business Solutions Providers in the Netherlands, we empower our customers to scale their businesses and optimize the channels their clients truly prefer.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer who can architect, build, and evolve our AWS-based platform infrastructure with a focus on developer experience, observability, scalability, and automation.
You will work closely with developers and other infra engineers to remove friction in deploying, testing, and scaling applications, from local environments through to production. You’ll be the go-to expert for cloud-native tooling, infrastructure as code, observability, and CI/CD best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Design and improve self-service infrastructure that enables developers to test and deploy features reliably across all environments.
Own and evolve our Kubernetes (EKS) setup to ensure it is secure, resilient, and developer-friendly.
Drive best practices in CI/CD, automating testing, security, deployment, and rollback pipelines.
Build and maintain robust monitoring, alerting, and observability systems to detect issues before they impact users.
Collaborate with developers to debug performance issues and production incidents.
Define and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform, Packer, and other modern tooling.
Lead initiatives to increase infrastructure reliability and scalability, especially under growing load.
Guide and mentor team members; help define engineering standards and operational excellence.
What You Bring
5+ years experience in Cloud Infrastructure or DevOps roles, preferably in fast-paced or scale-up environments.
Deep hands-on experience with AWS, especially services like EC2, IAM, S3, EKS, CloudWatch, Route53, ALB/NLB, and VPC networking.
Production-grade experience managing Kubernetes clusters and building Docker-based workflows.
Strong background in Linux systems engineering, debugging, and tuning.
Expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform is a must, Packer and Ansible a plus).
Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred; ArgoCD is a plus).
Solid understanding of observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, ELK, or similar).
Familiarity with secrets management, service discovery, and RBAC/least privilege access controls.
Passion for developer productivity, enablement, and automating toil away.
Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate with developers, PMs, and leadership.
Nice to Have
Experience with multi-account AWS Organizations, landing zones, or Control Tower.
Familiarity with GitOps, especially with ArgoCD.
Background in security, compliance, or incident response in cloud-native environments.
Experience with Kafka, Pulsar, or event streaming platforms.
Contributions to open source or thought leadership in the infra/devops community.
