Training and Development Specialist - Accounting Focused (Philippines)
FullTime USD 1200 - 1500 1 MONTHJob Overview
Location: Philippines (100% Remote)
Employment Type: Full-time Independent Contractor (exclusive commitment)
Compensation: $1,500 USD per month (commensurate with experience and skills)
About the Job
Some people leave accounting for something else. You took it somewhere better — the classroom. You know what it actually takes to work in US accounting. You've lived the workflows, navigated the nuances, and built the kind of hands-on knowledge that no textbook fully captures. Now, you use that experience to make other accountants better — and that is exactly the kind of person we need.
As our Training & Development Specialist, you won't just build courses. You'll shape how offshore accounting professionals think, work, and grow. You'll design content grounded in real practice, not theory. You'll step into live simulations and evaluate candidates the way only someone with genuine accounting experience can. And you'll work side by side with our internal team to build a training library that keeps pace with what US-based CPA firms and accounting teams actually demand.
This is not a role for someone who fell into training. This is a role for someone who chose it — because they know the difference a great instructor makes, and they want to be that for the next generation of accounting professionals. If you've stood in front of an accounting class, coached offshore teams through complex US workflows, or done both — you're exactly who we're looking for.
About the Role
Great instructors are rare. Great instructors who also get accounting — the real kind, the offshore kind, the kind that demands both technical precision and adaptability — are even rarer.
That's the gap you'll fill.
You'll own accounting training end-to-end: building the content, running the simulations, tracking whether it's all actually working, and finding smarter ways to deliver it. When a candidate sits down for a live simulation, you're the one evaluating them — not just on whether they got the numbers right, but whether they think and work like a professional who's ready for a US-based client. When a new course needs to be built, you're the subject matter expert and the instructional designer in one.
This role sits at the intersection of three things most people have only one of: accounting depth, teaching ability, and an understanding of how offshore accounting professionals learn, grow, and succeed.
What You'll Do
Curriculum & Content Development
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design and develop accounting-focused training materials, modules, and courses
Create at least 1 new course per week that reflects current US accounting standards, workflows, and best practices
Translate complex accounting concepts into clear, practical, and engaging learning experiences
Build content that speaks directly to the realities of offshore accounting professionals supporting US-based clients
Live Simulation Facilitation & Grading
Facilitate live accounting simulations for candidates during the recruitment stage, assessing both technical accuracy and professional judgment
Evaluate and grade simulation outputs with consistency and objectivity
Provide structured feedback that informs hiring decisions
Continuously refine simulation materials to reflect evolving role requirements
Training Participation & Completion Tracking
Monitor and report on Staffer and Internal participation rates across all training programs
Track progress completion rates for both Staffer and Internal cohorts
Ensure Week 0 pass rates are maintained and improvement plans are in place for failed attempts
Analyze Week 0 results (Passed, Failed, Failed - No Impact) and surface actionable insights
Automation & Process Improvement
Identify and implement at least one training automation improvement per week (Y/N tracked)
Streamline course delivery, tracking, and reporting processes using available tools and platforms
Build and maintain SOPs and facilitator guides to support consistent training delivery
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
Solid accounting background — hands-on experience in bookkeeping, financial reporting, or US accounting workflows
Experience as a Trainer, Facilitator, or Instructor in an accounting or finance context — whether in academia or in a professional training environment
Familiarity working with or training offshore accounting professionals supporting US-based firms
Strong curriculum design and instructional delivery skills
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple cohorts, timelines, and deliverables simultaneously
Nice to Have:
University-level teaching experience in Accounting or related subjects
Prior exposure to US CPA firm environments, offshore accounting teams, or staffing firms
Experience with LMS platforms, e-learning tools, or training automation
Background in assessment design, rubric development, or competency-based evaluation
The Ideal Candidate
You are an accountant first, a trainer second — and you are exceptional at both
You understand how offshore accounting professionals think, where they struggle, and how to get them to the next level
You can take a dense accounting concept and turn it into a lesson that is clear, practical, and immediately applicable
You are structured and consistent — your courses, simulations, and evaluations reflect a high and reliable standard
You look for ways to improve the training system, not just maintain it
You are comfortable being the subject matter expert in the room and earning the trust of both learners and internal stakeholders
Compensation & Perks
Monthly compensation in USD: $1,500 depending on experience and portfolio complexity.
Permanent WFH with company-provided equipment (laptop, monitor, accessories).
15 days PTO annually + public holidays
Supportive, documentation-first culture with clear review standards.

This is an independent contractor engagement based in the Philippines. Full-time exclusivity is required. Candidates must not hold other part-time or freelance engagements once hired. Conflict-of-interest checks may apply.
