You will work in the TS-Group within the HSE Unit, which is responsible for occupational health and safety, including radiation protection, environmental protection, and emergency preparedness and response. Activities cover the monitoring and reporting of the environmental and radiological impacts of the Organization’s activities.
In your role as an electronics engineer, you will be involved in the development and improvement of radiation and environmental monitoring solutions. This includes participating in the full lifecycle of hardware and embedded firmware development using modern methodologies and technologies.
Functions
- Design and develop mixed-signal electronics, with a focus on analogue sensor interfaces and ultra-low-current measurement circuits.
- Develop and maintain embedded code in VHDL and C to support system control, data processing, and hardware interfacing.
- Consolidate and maintain heterogeneous firmware and its development environment (tools, build flow, and supporting infrastructure).
- Adapt the MPSoC architecture to support the required communication interfaces and onboard processing.
- Develop and integrate firmware updates to meet system functional and performance requirements.
- Perform functional tests to verify correct system behaviour under expected operating conditions.
- Develop dedicated electronic test boards and complex test benches to evaluate electronic systems under radiation at CERN and at external irradiation facilities.
- Characterise newly developed systems through measurement, analysis, and validation activities to ensure compliance with functional and performance requirements.
- Identify issues during testing, troubleshoot root causes, and implement corrective improvements.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software teams to ensure effective system integration and reliable operation.
- Ensure proper documentation, version control, and traceability of developments using collaborative tools such as GitLab and Jira.
