UX Team Lead (maternity cover)
***This position is based in Bulgaria and Germany with remote/hybrid working options. Applicants must have a work/residence permit for the respective location.***
We are seeking a highly motivated, early to mid-career UX Team Manager who is ready to take the next step in their career. The ideal candidate has proven experience managing UX teams and processes, yet remains deeply engaged in day-to-day activities, including collaboration with product management and development.
As UX Team Lead for our core AEC offering, you will act as the link between business strategy and user needs. This role is a maternity cover position with a strong emphasis on design quality, mentorship and process excellence.
You will oversee and mentor a distributed team of UX designers, plan and prioritize resources, guide collaboration with product management and engineering, and ensure the delivery of consistent, high-quality user experiences.
Main Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Mentorship
Lead, mentor, and inspire a distributed team of UX designers at different seniority levels (minimum 2 years prior UX Management/TL role experience required).
Provide constructive feedback and guidance on design deliverables during UXR creative jams, 1:1 and team sessions;
Define quarterly and annual goals for team members, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and personal career paths.
Support skill development for designers, and flag development needs for senior ICs to the Head of UXR.
UX Process & Operations
Oversee team workflows and maintain alignment with organizational processes and practices.
Evaluate what is and isn’t working, propose improvements, and escalate key challenges to the Head of UXR.
Facilitate design reviews and coordinate activities to identify usability issues, misalignments, and opportunities for improvement.
Manage and prioritize UX deliverables, ensuring deadlines are met without overloading team capacity.
Collaborate with the research team to plan, prioritize, and align research activities with product and business needs, while ensuring UX designers are enabled with the right data and insights in their day-to-day work.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with product management, engineering, and other functional groups to align priorities, scope resources, and coordinate activities.
Attend product scope meetings, provide estimates, and ensure alignment with design standards and system guidelines.
Advocate for HCD practices and data-driven decision making for end-user experiences.
Communicate the user perspective clearly, helping stakeholders balance business goals with customer needs.
Strategic Contribution
Connect product-level execution with the company’s broader vision and objectives.
Make tradeoff decisions in times of limited capacity or tight timeframes, aligning with leadership when necessary.
Support organizational planning for hiring and tooling by informing the Head of UXR.
