Duties/Responsibilities:
- Research, interpret, and apply USDA codes and other relevant regulatory standards to ensure compliance with product labeling, packaging, and marketing materials
- Assist in the development and submission of regulatory documentation, including product registrations, notifications, and approvals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide regulatory guidance and support throughout the product development lifecycle
- Monitor and track regulatory changes and updates to ensure that products are in alignment with the latest requirements
- Participate in regulatory agency communications and inspections as needed
- Assist in the preparation of regulatory submissions and responses to inquiries from regulatory authorities
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of food safety and labelling regulations (USDA, FDA, international).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and regulatory software tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Regulatory Affairs, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in regulatory affairs, preferably in the food industry.
- Experience with regulatory submissions and audits.
- Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and SQF systems is a plus.
- Certification in Regulatory Affairs (RAC) or related credentials is desirable.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with a standard professional setting. Occasional exposure to production, warehouse, or laboratory environments may be required for audits, inspections, or cross-functional collaboration.
- Standard business hours with occasional extended hours or weekend work during regulatory deadlines, audits, or product launches.
- Occasional domestic travel may be required for regulatory meetings, training sessions, or site inspections.
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods. May involve walking through production areas, lifting light materials (up to 25 lbs), or handling documents and samples.
- Flexibility for hybrid or remote work arrangements depending on business needs and regulatory deadlines.
- Frequent use of computers, regulatory databases, and communication platforms. Must be comfortable with digital documentation and virtual collaboration tools.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding proprietary formulations, regulatory strategies, and sensitive documentation.
