The Substation EIT will be involved in a range of projects and tasks related to electrical utility distribution and transmission (T&D) infrastructure for industrial clients and Utilities. They projects focused on will be substations but may also support emerging projects in other areas such as telecommunications, industrial electrical, and renewable energy. This is a hybrid role (2 days /week in the office) that can be based out of our office in Vancouver.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare drawings and specifications for design of electrical systems including physical layouts (2D and 3D) and installation details of HV and MV substations for utilities and industrial installations;
- Prepare Single Line Diagrams for electrical systems;
- Perform electrical calculations and equipment sizing for various electrical equipment such as power transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, busbars, etc.
- Prepare Bill of Materials for electrical installations;
- Sizing of power cable and cable tray/trenches routing design;
- Develop equipment specification for HV and MV equipment procurement;
- Review of manufacturers’ equipment drawings;
- Design and calculation of AC and DC auxiliary systems including single line diagram, load calculations, distribution drawings, voltage drop calculations, etc;
- Participate in planning, scheduling and estimating (Engineering and Construction);
- Participate in engineering meetings (internal and clients) and in engineering coordination with other disciplines;
- Perform regular documented reviews, maintain monthly progress report, and issue updates accordingly;
- Participate in site surveys and commissioning occasionally.
