Job Overview

So, what will your day look like?

In this role, you will support a wonderful 5-year-old boy living in the B11 area with his family who lives at home with his mum, dad, and three siblings. He has a severe and progressive neurodegenerative condition, and his health has deteriorated over the past year, so compassionate, attentive care is essential.

Your role will involve helping to provide a safe, comfortable, and nurturing environment while supporting his complex health needs. He has dysphagia, gut dysmotility, and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD). All nutrition and fluids are administered through a Gastro-Jejunostomy (GJ) tube, which delivers feeds directly into different parts of his digestive system. You will follow his established care plan carefully to support his feeding routine.

He follows a ketogenic diet to help manage and control seizures. Ensuring this diet is followed exactly as directed is an important part of his care.

You will spend time engaging with him in ways that bring comfort and happiness. He enjoys being close to people who care for him, being gently held, cuddled, stroked, or sitting on someone’s knee. Sensory and calming activities are important for him; he enjoys listening to the Quran and watching his musical light, which helps soothe and relax him.
