About the Role:

As a Librarian, you will oversee or support the daily functions of the library, which include conducting loan transactions, managing acquisitions, cataloguing, processing library materials, implementing library programs and activities, and offering reference and information services to assist patrons with their research and educational needs.

  • Provide guidance to library teams for their daily operations and ensure they are achieving the Service Level Agreement.
  • Perform collection review including gap analysis.
  • Develop recommended library resource lists including books, eBooks, journals, magazines, databases, etc.
  • Propose and/or develop strategic library programmes to promote the library resources and services.
  • Prepare and analyse regular reports e.g. library usage, loan and collection statistics, reference enquiries etc.
  • Liaise with suppliers in the procurement, selection and delivery of print and e-resources.
  • Ensure team is kept abreast of changes in the library industry including standards in acquisitions, collection development and cataloguing so that they are consistently equipped with up-to-date knowledge to advise customers.
  • Any other duties assigned to meet the needs and requirements of the business.

Requirements

What you will do to be successful in this role 

  • A recognized degree in any discipline with at least 3 - 5 years of relevant working experience in managing libraries.
  • A recognized postgraduate qualification in Library and Information Management or Information Science is preferred.
  • Knowledge in library operations such as reference services, circulation operations and research support.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact well with clients, library users and library vendors.
  • Good knowledge on the use of online databases.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet users’ needs.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and Internet IT skills.
  • Ability to lead library team in the provision of library service.
