Tax Analyst

About your new role:

CommandLink is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Analyst to join its fast-growing finance team. Reporting to the Tax & Regulatory Manager, this role will support the company's tax compliance and reporting functions across a range of transactional, regulatory, and indirect tax areas. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, organized, and ready to develop their skills in a dynamic environment with real ownership from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

• Tax Compliance & Filing: Assist in preparing tax returns, including U.S. transactional taxes, Canadian GST/HST, provincial filings, and FCC/USAC program reports. Support third-party vendor coordination and contribute to international VAT compliance efforts.
• Tax Accounting & Reporting: Support recurring and ad hoc financial analyses, assist with reconciliation of tax-related GL accounts, and contribute to the close process and financial statement tax disclosures.
• Systems & Process Management: Assist with tax mapping for products and services, collaborate with billing and software teams to support accurate tax calculations, and contribute to workflow documentation and process improvement initiatives.
• Audit & Legal Support: Provide support during federal, state, local, and telecom audits, assist with audit response preparation, and help coordinate with tax and legal advisors as needed.
• Certificate & Notice Management: Assist in managing exemption and reseller certificate collection and renewal. Help monitor and respond to tax notices through the digital mailroom.
• Regulatory Monitoring: Stay informed on telecom and indirect tax law changes and assist in ensuring timely updates to systems and practices.

What you'll need for success:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in corporate tax, public accounting, or a related field
• Exposure to multi-state and/or indirect tax compliance is a plus; telecommunications or technology industry experience is a bonus
• Familiarity with SaaS taxation concepts is helpful but not required
• Exposure to Avalara, NetSuite, or similar tax/accounting platforms is a plus
• Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills
• Proficiency in Excel, including comfort working with large data sets
• High attention to detail and solid time management habits
• Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to take on new challenges
• Openness to change and a proactive approach to contributing ideas
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and willing to take on additional responsibilities as the team and organization grow
