About the Role
The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily field operations of industrial mechanical construction projects. This role ensures effective coordination of labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors while maintaining strict adherence to safety, quality, schedule, and cost requirements.
The Construction Manager directly supervises Superintendents and field personnel, resolves field-related challenges, and collaborates with Project Managers and executive leadership to ensure consistent, efficient project execution. This position plays a critical role in driving field productivity, managing site logistics, mitigating risk, and supporting on-time, on-budget project delivery. This is a field-based leadership role requiring regular presence on active job sites.
Who You Are & What You Bring
You are an experienced construction leader who understands industrial mechanical work and knows how to run field operations without hand-holding. You’re comfortable making decisions, holding teams accountable, and addressing problems before they impact safety, quality, or schedule.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Managing and supervising Superintendents to ensure smooth daily job site operations
- Allocating labor resources and overseeing field personnel performance
- Coordinating site logistics, including materials, equipment, and subcontractors
- Enforcing all safety programs and ensuring compliance with OSHA and company standards
- Maintaining quality workmanship and adherence to industry and company requirements
- Monitoring construction progress and ensuring schedule milestones are met
- Supporting cost control efforts and identifying opportunities for improved efficiency
- Resolving field-related issues quickly to avoid delays or rework
- Communicating clearly and consistently with Superintendents, Project Managers, and leadership
- Identifying and mitigating operational risks impacting field execution
- Tracking field productivity and recommending process improvements
What you need:
- 8+ years of experience in industrial mechanical construction
- Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or field management role
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, piping, and heavy equipment installation
- OSHA 30 certification (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
- PMP or Lean Construction certification (a plus)
- Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, MS Project, Primavera P6)
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
Work environment & physical requirements:
- Primarily field-based at active construction sites
- Frequent exposure to outdoor conditions, noise, dust, and heavy equipment
- Ability to stand, walk, and navigate job sites for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs as needed
- Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and working at heights
- Regular travel between job sites
